A lot of the conversations around designing AI-powered experiences for children currently focus on safety - protecting children from harm. However, it is critical time to explore how we can move beyond a protectionist mindset, and consider how AI presents an opportunity to develop critical skills for children to flourish.

We don’t stop children from crossing roads, we teach them how to do it safely, step by step, until they can do it independently. But we aren’t teaching children how to navigate digital spaces safely or independently - Said Dr Zhao
