2025 begins with a landmark event hosted by Round Square, a partner non-profit organisation of Oxford CCAI. This Headmaster’s Symposium brought together around 150 School Heads in the audience from around 40 countries.

While 2024 is drawing close to an end, we look back at Oxford CCAI of 2024 and share a few upcoming dates for 2025. Launch of CHAILD – Children’s Agency In the age of AI: Leveraging InterDisciplinarity We are delighted to announce that we have received an award from the UKRI Cross-Disciplinary Response Mode to support our collaboration with philosophers from Oxford and learning scientists from UCL.

We cannot treat children as subjects of AI experimentation - as it increasingly becomes part of their childhood, we must ensure AI governance supports their rights and development needs, incorporating safety from the start.

We are incredibly excited to be part of Oxford’s newly launched AI in Education at Oxford University (AIEOU), led by Dr Sara Ratner, Professor Elizabeth Wonnacott and Professor Rebecca Williams.

On November 20, the World Children’s Day, we attended the Lego and ATI’s Children and AI event at the headquarter of the British Computer Society, London. This marks a new project funded by the LEGO Group with research from The Alan Turing Institute on understanding the impacts of generative AI use on children.

On November 19, we attended UNICEF’s global launch of the RITEC Design Toolbox (RDT), part of the Responsible Innovation in Technology for Children (RITEC) initiative in partnership between UNICEF and the LEGO Group and supported by The LEGO Foundation.

On November 18, Dr Jun Zhao, joined Professor Ekaterina Hertog and Professor Netta Weinstein to talk about parental control technologies and how these may be affecting modern families at the podcast chaired by the Founder and CEO of ParentZone, Vicky Shotbolt.

On November 15, Dr Jun Zhao was invited to be part of the Expert Roundtable with Australian Children’s Commissioner, Julia Inman-Grant, during her visit in the UK, hosted by the London School of Economics.

On November 6, 2024, Dr Jun Zhao presents “Moral Machinese for Children” at the Institute for Ethics in AI, University of Oxford. See details This talk is a reflection of our ongoing research on integrating ethical principles into the process of child-centered design.
