Dr Jun Zhao from OxfordCCAI was invited to speak at the third France–Oxford–Quebec Colloquium on “Shaping the Future of AI”, held from 2–3 July 2026 at the British Embassy in Paris, amongst four other Oxford colleagues.

We are very excited to share that OxfordCCAI researchers have been awarded a new IAA grant to work on early-years parent–child relational mediation. Titled “Establishing a Research-to-Practice Ecosystem for Generative AI in the Early Years: A Case Study Designing AI to Support Agency and Parent-Child Connection,” the project is led by Dr Isobel Voysey, in collaboration with BabyZone and Oxford Edge, and supported by Professor Reuben Binns and Dr Jun Zhao.

May 7, we are pleased to be invited to the inaugural Oxford Cambridge Forum for Flourishing, Learning and AI in Research and Education (OxBridge FFLARE) policy roundtable at King’s College, Cambridge: Evaluating AI in Education for Core Human Capabilities.

We are delighted to share that our special issue editorial has been accepted for publication at IJHCS. This special issue aims to explore a challenge that has become increasingly crucial as artificial intelligence becomes embedded in the lives of children: how should a more balanced, child-centred, and agency-focused approach to designing AI systems for children look like?

We are pleased to share exciting presence at CHI2026 Barcelona by OxfordCCAI / CHAILD. The highlight is the Child-Centred AI-Mediated Collaborative Agency by Design workshop (CAMCAD), led by Dr Vidminas Vizgirda and Dr Isobel Voysey, and supported by many other Oxford and external colleagues.

We are pleased to share our latest publication exploring an increasingly important question: How can we ensure that AI systems are designed to genuinely serve children’s best interests? As AI becomes embedded in educational technologies, digital platforms, and everyday online experiences, policymakers worldwide are introducing new regulations to protect children from potential harms.

This February, we kicked off the first meeting of the new youth advisory group, which is a new project that is part of the MPLS Public and Community Engagement with Research Fellowship.

The 2026 International AI Safety Report provides a comprehensive assessment of advanced AI risks identified to date. These risks span malicious use, system malfunctions, and systemic effects across labour markets and human autonomy.
